Nykteria Releases Henosis – The Debut Album

Nykteria, a Finnish four-man death metal band, releases their debut full-length album Henosis on April 3rd, 2026.

Henosis, best described as grim, gruesome, and frantic, combines traditional death metal to modern influences from various metal genres as well as from electronic music. The bands inspiring the sound of the album range from Gorguts, Gojira, and Nile to Jojo Mayer and Squarepusher.

The theme of the album is transformation. The term “Henosis” refers to the idea of Unity or Oneness, Enlightenment, and finding it by any means necessary. “Throughout history people have tried to elevate themselves above their material existence and then justified all manner of atrocities by these higher ideals. Even for an individual, recklessly seeking some great Oneness is a recipe for doom and destruction,” says Arto Ikonen, the singer of Nykteria.

The tracks of Henosis have been jointly composed and arranged by the guitarist Samuli Rasi (Cicutoxin), the bassist Kalle Kansanen, and the drummer Mikko Paappanen (Hadean). The lyrics have been written by the singer Arto Ikonen.

Henosis was recorded in Jyväskylä, Finland, and mixed and mastered by Jami Honkala at Univaltakunta Studio. The cover art is by Mark Erskine at Erskine Designs. The album is self-released.

Nykteria was founded in 2017 and has previously released an EP, Wandering Madness, in 2019. After difficulties of recent years and changes in personnel, Nykteria is back on track.
